Since Taylor went to Boonesfield this past weekend (without me :( ) I decided that I had time to start a new project. This time I ventured into a new zone, men's shirts. I have been reading a while on shirts, but never got around to making one. I am using the Simplicity 5023 pattern, that is now out of print. I am going with option B, and handsewing the entire thing.
I am making some modifications: No placket on this shirt, only a simple overlap for buttons; no folding collar, just a collar band; and adding a breast pocket.
I still have to assemble the shirt, but most of the pieces are all stitched.
Underarm gusset with flat felled seams.
